GoodNotes for iPad offers several options for syncing and backing up your documents. Here’s how to set up both sync and backup effectively.
1. Sync GoodNotes
Please note: If you do not have an iCloud account setup on your iPad, please proceed to the next step to Enable auto backup.
GoodNotes uses iCloud to sync your notes across all devices logged into the same Apple ID, this will also benefit you if your iPad is replaced.
Steps to Enable iCloud Sync:
1. Open GoodNotes on your iPad.
2. Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner to open settings.
3. Go to Cloud & Backup.
4. Tap Cloud Sync.
5. Toggle on Use iCloud to sync documents and tap Done.
6. Wait for your notes to sync. This might take some time depending on the size of your library.
Note: Once enabled, GoodNotes will automatically sync your notes to iCloud and make them accessible on other devices with GoodNotes installed.
2. Set Up Auto-Backup for Additional Security
GoodNotes offers an Auto-Backup feature to save a copy of your notes to a third-party cloud storage service like Google Drive. This is separate from iCloud Sync and ensures you have an extra layer of backup.
Steps to Enable Auto-Backup:
1. Open GoodNotes on your iPad.
2. Tap the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner to open settings.
3. Go to Cloud & Backup.
4. Select Automatic Backup and Toggle on Auto Backup.
5. Choose your preferred cloud storage service, we recommend Google Drive.• You will need to sign in to your cloud account and grant GoodNotes permission to access it.
6. Select the file format for backup: We recommend choosing Both: This Saves both editable and non-editable versions of your notes.
Once set up, GoodNotes will automatically back up your notes whenever there are changes.
