Homework will be now set and managed from the RGS Portal.
The address is: https://portal.rgsw.org.uk
This can also be found on the RGS Intranet sites in the Portals menu and a weblink has also been published to all staff and student iPads (see image below).
To login, select the Sign in with Microsoft option, enter your RGS email address and RGS password.
Viewing your Timetable
Once you are logged on, select the Staff heading and you will presented with the menu as seen below.
Viewing the timetable and setting homework begins from the Timetable view.
Once you have selected your Timetable you can view the current, previous and next weeks timetable.
Setting a Homework
To set a homework, select + Add Assignment from the Timetable view as shown above.
You will then be presented with the screen as displayed below.
The first option is to select Where should this be handed in.
Click the box to reveal a drop down menu with the preset options. If you would like additional options then please speak to the IT department.
When Should this be handed in?
This date will default to one week from when you set the homework, click into the box to choose a new date.
How long should this assignment take?
This is not a required field, however you may choose a time period from the drop down menu.
Title and Description
Enter the Homework Title and Description. There are some standard formatting options available here such as adding web links. Please click here to view further information on formatting your text.
Attachments can be added to the homework directly from your device or from Google Drive.
To attach a file, click Add attachment. The following window is displayed
Attaching a file from a laptop or desktop computer
You can drag and drop a file onto the attachment window or click Select file and browse your computer for the file you wish to attach.
Please note: Only one file at a time can be uploaded using either of the above methods.
Once your files has been added, choose upload file to add it to the homework.
Attaching a file from an iPad
You can also drag and drop when uploading from an iPad. If you use the iPad Split Screen functionality your files can be displayed on one side of the screen with the homework page on the other. File can then be dragged across to upload - see example below.
Alternatively, by tapping Select file you can browse the iPad to locate the file you wish to attach.
Attaching from Google Drive - All devices
When choosing the Google Drive option you can browse your My Drive.
Please note: It is not currently possible to select files from Shared Google Drives
Once you have located the file in Google Drive, click Upload to attach to the homework.
Please note: It is possible to select a Google Doc, Google Sheet or Google Slide to attach to the homework. When you do this, the file is automatically attached to the homework as a standard Microsoft format document. E.g A Google Doc will be uploaded as a Microsoft Word Document, A Google Slide will be uploaded as a Microsoft Powerpoint Document.
If you would like students to work on a 'live' Google document then it is recommended that you share a document with them that you wish them to use or they create a document and share it with you via Google Drive.
Once you have set and checked the various elements of the homework, choosing Save will now instantly assign this to the students.
